Virtual Learning Program

An Alternative to the Standard Classroom

We are pleased to offer a virtual learning experience for high school students in grades 9th-12th. Participation in the CHS Virtual Learning Program (VLP) is reserved for students with unique circumstances that require them to complete learning off-campus using an online learning platform. 

High School Virtual Learning:

  • Students participate in an asynchronous model of learning, which means there aren’t structured live daily instruction sessions
  • Virtual Learning students will be required to attend in-person sessions at CHS twice per week to meet with learning coaches and complete assessments. These sessions are referred to as hubs.
  • All students are required to attend in person on October 2, 2024, and February 12, 2025.
  • Virtual students will access the curriculum and instruction using the Apex or EdOptions online learning platforms.
  • Students will have support from, and ongoing access to, a virtual learning coach to ensure online class progress. 
  • The learning coaches will support students with progress updates, answering general questions, resolving technical issues, and facilitating end-of-unit assessments.   
  • Parents will be able to monitor their student's progress through weekly email communications from Apex/EdOptions and learning coaches.
  • Participating students will be required to make a minimum commitment of a full semester.
  • Students can choose a full-time virtual schedule or a combination of part-time virtual/part-time traditional schedules. An example of this may be a student who wants to attend the virtual program but also wants to attend KCTC, or still be in the music program, etc.

Participation requires approval from CHS Administration and students must demonstrate the ability to be successful in an independent virtual learning environment to maintain their seat in the program.
