Food Service Department

Welcome to the Caledonia Community Schools Food Service Program! We are dedicated to meeting your child's nutritional needs each school day. By taking part in the National School Lunch Program, we ensure that every student has access to a tasty, balanced, and nutritious breakfast and lunch. Each day, we offer fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain options, 100% juice, and 1% or fat-free milk.

Studies show that students who eat a healthy breakfast and lunch are more focused, better behaved, and more engaged in classroom activities. Caledonia Community Schools Food Service is committed to supporting your child's educational journey with nutritious meals.

Meal Account Management

Caledonia Community Schools Food Service uses the Family Portal online system. This tool allows parents/guardians to make deposits, check balances, view food purchasing history, transfer funds between family members, and set account restrictions 24/7. Every student is assigned an account number upon enrollment, which you will need to set up their online Family Portal Account. Instructions will be sent at the beginning of the school year.

Lunch Menu App

Through Nutrislice, an innovative app, students, parents, and faculty have access to school menus, including nutrition information, allergens, and photos. Nutrislice can be downloaded for free from the App store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and is available on desktop and mobile devices.

Free Meals for the 2024-2025 School Year

For the 2024-2025 school year, breakfast and lunch are FREE for all K-12 students in Caledonia Community Schools! However, second meals and a la carte items must be purchased separately.

Why You Still Need to Fill Out the Free and Reduced Lunch Form

Even though meals are free this year, it's crucial for our district to know which families qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Completing this form helps in several ways:

  1. Funding for Schools: The data from these forms determine "At Risk" funding, which affects staffing for positions like Counselors, Reading Interventionists, Title I Paraprofessionals, and the Family Engagement Coordinator.
  2. Federal Funding: Our free and reduced numbers submitted in June influence the federal funding we receive for the next school year.
  3. Additional Benefits: Qualifying students may get discounts on computer insurance, sports fees, testing fees, and may qualify for EBT cards.

Apply for Free or Reduced-Price Meals

The 2024-2025 Free and Reduced Lunch Application is now available online. If you think you might qualify, please apply. It benefits both your family and our school.

Dietary Restrictions?

Please complete the Special Diet Statement and send it to the Food Service Director, Meaghan Beyer, at [email protected]

Once the document is received, the Food Service Director will contact the parent/guardian listed on the form to go over meal accommodation and the menu before we put it in place. Please make sure you send your child to school with meals until an alternate menu is made and the parent/guardian has spoken with the Food Service Director.
